My cousin has this dilemma of getting my niece; baby Katie to sleep at night. I was once in their house and I really saw how hard it was for her to have the little baby sleep on time and be able to give her the right amount of sleep. And because my cousin has to look after the baby, she also gets countless sleepless nights.
To help my cousin with her problem, I searched on different internet websites to learn the proper way on how to put the baby into pleasant sleep during nights. I found out that it was really helpful if during her first night at home, she was already placed in her crib with all her things like stuff toys, musical mobile, baby pillows and her pink crib linen to become familiar to her bed. My cousin should also make this a nightly routine because one deviation from it can make it too harder in the end.
I also advised my cousin to give baby Katie a bath and give her a little massage with the use of baby lotion to help her sleep. She could even read a short story or sing her a lullaby while she’s rocking the crib. Before she do this, she has to make sure that the room is calm and quiet and a feeding bottle is already held by baby Katie. A wet diaper will also cause irritability so it can be a reason why she couldn’t sleep on time. When everything is all set, my cousin can already put the pink crib linen over baby Katie and wait for her to fully sleep.
Of course in the middle of the night, baby Katie will cry but there’s no need to pick her up. Rocking the crib slowly can get her back to sleep. She can also check for wet pajamas or maybe baby Katie would want to have another bottle of milk. The only tip here is to keep this as a routine so that not only baby Katie but all the babies do not need to rely on their moms in order to fall asleep.
Having shared all of these to my dear cousin, there are no cranky baby and mom in the nursery every night. Pleasant dreams!
